The Voices of HOPE
The Voices of HOPE is a Self-Advocacy group that encourages, teaches, and empowers individuals. This Advocacy group meets every 4-6 weeks.
Meetings and Topics may include:
- Knowing your rights and responsibilities
- How to deal with bullying
- Identity Theft/Scams/Internet Safety
- Budgeting
- How to handle difficult situations and stand up for yourself
Future goals for the Voices of HOPE group include volunteer opportunities, presentations to community groups, disability awareness training with employers, and attend Project STIR and Synergy.
Project STIR is a training program created by the OSDA to create change that empowers people with disabilities and their families to direct their lives.
Synergy is a conference with different sessions targeted for individuals, DD professionals, parents, guardians, family members, county board staff and providers in the areas of residential, direct service, day services, social work, management and service coordination.
